Hasta Ver

Well this week we had a baptism!!!!! yayayayayaya! I am so excited! One reason is because the sector that I am in is very very challenging. It is full of Catholics and rich people (AniƱados) and there are also a lot of Jehovah´s Whiteness´s . They have knocked on our door a couple times already, and when we answer it they get scared and just give us a flyer or a pamphlet. There church is right next door from our church.

The baptism was also one of the best I have had, there were so many people there at Jorge Louise Pillajo´s baptism. Our ward members are very supportive. And we actually had a piano in the baptism to sing! We had to carry it down from the upstairs chapel though.

But this week has actually been pretty challenging. My companion went home yesterday. He completed 2 years and 1 month in the mission. He was a great companion. I am now with the zone leaders until my new companion arrives or until I get sent somewhere else. I don't know what will happen or when it will happen, but I know what ever happens its for the best.

That's one thing I have learned in the mission is that this is the lords work and his hand is in everything we do as missionaries. This is not my work, I am just a instrument in the Lords work. We are working with a couple families right now. One family is a family of 5 girls....they couldn't go to church this week because of the flu, but next week they will be in church. We also have a baptism date with a lady named Anabelen Merchan. Please pray for her, she needs to gain a strong testimony of the church. But we also put another baptism date this week with a guy named Paul Merchan and he is not related to Anabelen Merchan. Just a coincidence that they have the same last name. Please pray for those people.

This week the festivals and holiday are finally over so now we can actually get into some houses. This last week was difficult but we pulled through. I am excited to see who comes to be my next companion. Hopefully someone who is ready to work really hard. I have been blessed with all great wonderful companions so far. so I am not worried.

I love and pray for all of you! i thank you for being such good people!

remember that we have a father in heaven who loves us and answers our prayers. Remember that we are responsible to share this simple message with everyone in the world. We are all children of god, and the savior suffered for all of our sins. ALL. there is nothing you cant repent of, you can come unto Christ though the atoning sacrifice of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. I love you all and pray for you daily

Carnival

Well this week in Cuanca Ecuador was very interesting.

They have a Holiday here called Carnival and I don't like it as a missionary....This Holiday is on the hottest days of the year here, and it consists of throwing water balloons out of your car and having water fights, going to the beach and swimming. Its a holiday just to cool off. It would be fine if i was in the hot parts of Ecuador, but I'm in the coldest area. So all this week I have been dodging water balloons (bombas) that are sometimes fills with water, paint, bleach, ice....I luckily only got hit twice with water....one time right between my legs......that area....

The other day my comp got hit in the face with one ha ha it was thrown out of a white Toyota Carola....later in the week we were knocking doors and found the same Toyota and knocked the door and it was a teenager kid, and when he saw us he was a little shocked. We tried to teach him but he told us he was busy filling up water balloons with his girl friend. All I can say is that he´s lucky that we are missionaries and didn't get him back. But it was funny that we found him.

On the spiritual note we will be baptizing a boy named Jorge Perez this Saturday, so if you could please keep him in your prayers. We also put a baptism date for march 3rd with a girls that is 21 named Anabelen. Her parents are members and she has listened to missionaries before but never actually wanted to accept it. We used and testified the Book of Mormon a lot in her lesson and she really felt it, the Book of Mormon can change peoples hearts. I see it every day with people here I also see it with myself. I am loving El Libro de Mormon!

There are a lot of people here that talk bad about the church false beliefs and false practices. A lot of people here believe it all. But when a person reads and prays for themselves they really do change, they begin to realize that Christ is their Savior and that we can't be happy people and live with our father in heaven after this life with our families forever. They begin to have a purpose in their life. They give up bad habits and start good ones, I know that this book has power to heal the hearts of men. I have seen it first hand in families that were completely broken, that have now been sealed in the temple and are living in a way that brings them true happiness.

I think in my head everyday when I go out to work, who's life can I change today? The awesome thing is, is that its not even me that is doing the changing. Not even my companion, but the Holy Ghost that testifies of the truth. We can all change peoples lives, and we can all change our own. As we study and learn the scriptures, pray, go to church and be examples for others. we need to be light houses for the lost people in this world. They want the gospel they just don't know it yet.

I love you all and I pray for you everyday.

Keep on keeping on

Monay

This week has been good, I am in my new sector "Monay" with my new comp. elder Denison from Utah. He is sweet, he will only be here for 2 more weeks because he already has been on his mission for 2 years and 2 weeks now. he extended his mission for a month, just to be with me.

We are opening this new sector together and its going good, we knock a lot of doors, but the members here and the bishop are sweet. We have two baptism dates on is for the 25th of February, and one is for the first week in march. we placed the baptism date yesterday with a kid named Jorge he is 14 years old and he went to church yesterday and liked it a lot. Elder Denison is happy that we will have a baptism before he leaves.

on the fun note, on Friday we had an activity in the church to celebrate valentines day, and me and elder Denison played a song for everyone in the ward. He played piano and i played guitar and sang the song by second hand serenade "fall for you" and everyone loved it. Elder Denison is super pro at piano. he played in sacrament meeting.

Our sector is huge and not very populated in a lot of parts so we have to walk and ride a lot of buses. But we are trying to get to know the members very well to build their trust. I have learned the best way to find people is through the members.

I am loving life right now and loving serving the Lord everyday. I am learning a lot of valuable things for my future and I am receiving very much joy in bringing people closer to our savior Jesu Cristo.

For those of you who are interested the ward I am in actually has a face book page and I think there is a picture of me on there. but the page is called "barrio monay LDS"

I ate very good pizza this week twice, so that was very nice ha ha. The members here are very well off and they feed us very well so don't worry mom! Well I miss and love you all!

Cambio

This week has been super good! me and my comp have gotten along very well! we have been working hard and have 3 baptisms this week ...Saturday... well I had three baptisms but I got a new area and new companion today.

The new area is in the same city of Cuenca just its a new area....as in we are the first missionaries to go there in a long time. So We will be doing a lot of knocking on doors and finding finding finding. I still haven't met my new comp, but he is another district leader. So we should have success together and he is American.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures today.....my camera is not with me. But we had a baptism Saturday. A women named jenny Reyes, she is a very strong convert. she left her husband to be baptized. Her husband was always cheating on her but giving her money, sadly this is a very common thing here but it can be fixed with the gospel. I baptized jenny and it was a little hard....she is a little on the heavy side. But the water helped a lot.

The Church is growing rapidly and the gospel is touching the lives of many people everyday. There is not one doubt in my mind that it is true. It is real, and it blesses lives. Temporally and spiritually. I see it everyday! I also know that the work grows faster with the help of members. Every member is a missionary! The members are sooo important.

I gave a talk in my ward last Sunday about the importance of missionary work and the members. There is a whole seccion in preach my gospel titled how to work with the members. I challenge you all to read it. It takes no longer than 5 minutes. The time is close to the lords coming. We need to share the gospel with everyone! I challenge you all to look and pray for missionary opportunities daily. It will bless your family and others more than you can imagine.

I love you all and pray for you daily. I hope you are are enjoying life as I am enjoying mine.
